Small Cell Technician

SUMMARY

5 Bars Services is looking for well motivated individual, with a Network operations background with a specialty in the building and maintaining of Small Cell equipment and outside plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must be able to assess and solve problems in the field and find the safe and fast solution.

  • Must be knowledgeable with all forms of carrier equipment, High and low output radios.

  • Familiar with small hand tools and power tools, and the safe operation

  • Familiar with the use of aerial lift trucks, and perform work in them safely.

  • Must be comfortable with working at high heights.

  • Able to understand and perform equipment troubleshooting

  • Must be familiar with industry safety standards.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or GED and five (5) years’ experience and/or training operating a direction drill or trenching equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • More than five (5) years’ of related training and managerial experience.

  • Three (3) years’ of experience as a Directional Drill Locator.

  • Proven track record of leading a large construction organization.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

  • Valid Class A Driver’s License Required or ability to acquire within 90 days

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

  • Must have or be willing to get OHSA 30

  • Must hold a valid DOT medical card, and familiarized with DOT standards.

  • Ability to drill in both standard and high-risk areas, such as areas with live utilities

  • Knowledge of highway traffic control standards

  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of all equipment

  • Knowledge of Underground Construction practices

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, practices and procedures

  • Ability to identify and use the tools required for maintaining and servicing the drill, drill stem, and rack as well as the ability to diagnose and/or relay any problems to a certified repair technician

  • Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering plans

  • Ability to research land and plat information and communicate design prints

  • Ability to accurately sketch and record field notes and computations for as-builts

  • Ability to perform and/or instruct entry-level skills and practices as required

  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions

  • Effective listening, interacting and writing skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

May have exposure to indoor/outdoor adverse weather conditions. Frequent exposure to noise - workers must wear protective hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.  Exposure to pollutants or allergens which can adversely affect the skin and/or the respiratory system such as gases, smoke, odors, mists, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils or solvents. Exposure to hazardous working conditions including moving machinery, electricity and/or working in high places.  May be exposed to hot objects, flames or sparks. The job requires the use of protective equipment such as hard hats, respirators, aprons, gloves, special clothing, safety shoes and safety glasses.
